## Important Information
*(Scroll down for system requirements and NVIDIA-specific instructions)*

Virtual machines are **not officially supported**. If you still want to test NebiOS in a VM, allocate **at least 128 MB of video memory** and **enable 3D acceleration**.

You can configure this from:
**VirtualBox → Machine Settings → Display**

That said, **VMware and QEMU generally provide a better experience than VirtualBox**.

* **VMware:** 3D acceleration is usually enabled by default (if not, you can enable it manually).
* **QEMU:** Use **virtio-gpu-gl** — currently the only virtual GPU option with proper hardware acceleration support.

**NebiDE Wayland requires proper GPU acceleration.**
Wayfire renders through EGL / OpenGL ES, so running under **software rendering (llvmpipe / GLES fallback)** may cause visual artifacts, rendering issues, and poor performance.

Additionally, **Xwayland support in virtualized environments is unreliable**, so some **legacy (X11-based)** applications may fail to launch.

## NVIDIA Users

If your system has an NVIDIA GPU, it is **strongly recommended** to download the dedicated ISO:

* **"Generic PC (64 bit) with Latest NVIDIA Drivers"**
* On SourceForge: files ending with `amd64+nvidia`

This ISO ships with the NVIDIA **595** driver preinstalled and avoids common setup issues.

> **Note:** The 590 series and newer no longer support **Pascal GPUs** (GTX 10xx series — e.g. GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1080 Ti). The 580 branch is the last driver line that supports Pascal, Maxwell, and Volta cards.
> If you have a Pascal card, use the standard ISO and install a compatible driver (e.g. 580) manually.
> Turing (GTX 1650 / RTX 20xx) and newer GPUs are fully supported by the NVIDIA ISO.

## Post-install Drivers

If you're using the standard ISO, installing **NVIDIA proprietary** (or **open kernel**) drivers after installation is **strongly recommended**.
The **OOBE (Out-of-Box Experience)** includes guidance for this — just follow the instructions.
